Tales of Things Thrown Out
Everything is back online! It has taken a bit longer than I expected, but things should be back together. In the next few weeks I should, hopefully, have a rental system set up for the people in the Mansfield, PA area.
Send in stories of things that were tossed out by your parents or that you yourself lost. Help us start something here.
When I was a child, I kept extremely good care of my toys. As I got older and stopped playing with them, I took pride in their pristine condition and looked forward to passing them on to my kids. But it was not to be! After I went to college, my parents sold all my toys at a huge garage/moving sale. My Batman toys, my dinosaurs, and my prized Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys – all sold or given away! Besides my Nerf guns, which I had brought with me to college, the only survivor of the purge was a stuffed animal, a duck, which was one of my favorites, but even Duk-Wuk only survived because my friends insisted that he be preserved.

When I was very young my mom threw something out that I, apparently, was quite attached to. I have no recollection of what that thing was at this point, but it resulted in getting my mom to check with me before she threw anything out that might be mine regardless of if it was clearly trash or not. Even though I have long since moved out of that house, whenever she does work on my old room or moves my old stuff i am still tempted to ask for a detailed listing of anything that may have been tossed.

When I was a kid I was subject to the tyranny of "box time" - a practice in which anything on or close to the floor in my bedroom was whisked away at least once a week. This resulted in the loss of numerous toys and priceless artifacts, but the most notable was my collection of "My Little Ponies." I had quite a few, and my mother made me choose 3 to keep when she sent all the others to the thrift store. She, of course, has no memory of this ever happening.
